Job Description:

1. The Context / Purpose of the Job Assist Head (Shipping Operations) in all safety and security related activities carried out by TSG(S&LO) wrt ship, ship-shore interface. 
2. Assist in handling any safety incidents, analysing root cause and ensuring the root causes are adequately addressed. 
3. Assist Head (Shipping Operations) to ensure that all vessels chartered by Tata Steel comply with the IMO conventions like SOLAS, MARPOL & ISPS encompassing Safety, Environment & Security aspects of the Shipping portfolio by various means. 
4. Ensure all the vessels proposed by the chartering team are vetted and comply with statutory requirements and also the Safety performance of the vessel using the tools provided. Proactively identify safety gaps in existing activities, define means to positively bridge these gaps and drive these initiatives with relevant stakeholders. 
5. To identify and implement new opportunities in shipping operations that will maximize value and minimize risk exposure. 
6. To analyse the bunker markets; identify the right window for negotiation & procurement of bunkers for the time charter vessels of the group in line with agreed company procedures & authority level. 
7. To negotiate & manage the procurement of Port Services like towage/ port agents etc.
8. To deploy the Groups time charter vessels to ensure maximum use of the tonnage available, also to ensure maximum uplift of cargo & faster turnaround of the vessels. Optimise TC and COA vessel utilization in line with central planning requirements & at the same time. 
9. Ensure maximum uplift of cargo & faster turnaround of the vessels. Manage and direct all operational aspects of the Groups time charter and COA fleet of vessels and also ensure that all statutory requirements are complied with. 
10. Ensure all the Voyage charter vessels comply with the central planning team’s requirements of timely delivery of inbound cargo. 
11. Ensure proper & timely flow of documentation so as to ensure vessels are not delayed. Monitor and generate Management Information System (MIS) on activities that are carried out at sea and in ports related to Tata Steel’s inbound / outbound cargo. 
12. To ensure that vessel operations are incident/ accident free. 
13. To proactively take steps to ensure loading/ discharging operations are incident/ accident free & vessels are not damaged 
14. To ensure that all vessels chartered by Tata Steel comply with the IMO conventions like SOLAS, MARPOL & ISPS encompassing Safety, Environment & Security aspects of the Shipping portfolio by various means. 
15. Support Planning and Scheduling team & ensure compliance to central planner's requirements.
16. Proactively advise planning & scheduling team on utilization of TC and CoA vessels taking into considerations pa
17. rameters like planning team requirements, port restrictions, vessel’s constructions constraints etc .
18. Ensure that vessels are not delayed due to inadequate/ improper documentation & improper documentation flow. 
19. Ensure optimal vessels performance by minimising turnaround time in port, increasing the vessel throughput, monitoring port line up & weather conditions.

21. Ensure correct quantity & quality of bunkers are procured at the right port & at minimal price. 
22. Vetting of all vessels prior to employment on Tata Steel Charter to ensure that the vessel complies with all the International safety regulations 
23. Graduate Engineer in any discipline (BE/ B.Tech) or MBA - any specialization (2- years full time) or Graduate and its equivalent with professional qualification
