Job Description:

1. The Candidate should be a Civil Engineering graduate or diploma from the recognized university.
2. Should be conversant in project management and planning.
3. Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office & MS Projects is a must.
4. The candidate should be able to take decisions independently interactive skills with consultants and contractors.
5. Knowledge of statutory requirements must possess excellent communication and Interpersonal skills should prepare several reports relating to Material reconciliations, BOQ/work done reconciliation.
6. Responsible for scrutiny of sub-contractor bills/invoices and communicate the irregularities/discrepancies to the concerned site staff for necessary corrective action
7. Plans, assigns, trains, instructs, assists, supervises, and evaluates the work of professional and technical staff.
8. Prepares technical and engineering correspondence and reports.
9. Plans, organizes, directs and controls resources assigned to best accomplish the assigned functions within budget and at maximum effectiveness.
10. Enforces the appropriate County Policies and Directors Letters of Instructions.
11. Prepares engineering documents including structural drawings, contract proposals, material lists, reinforcements, and structural specifications for a wide variety of earthwork projects and structures.
12. Reviews and checks structural designs, calculations, contractors' shop drawings, and engineering drawings for construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
13. Reviews proposed projects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
14. Coordinates structural designs with mechanical and electrical components.
15. Directs field crews engaged in a variety of engineering construction, maintenance, and repair activities on service contracts and projects.
16. Examines and checks building plans and specifications for compliance with various codes and regulations to assure good structural practices and to determine errors in design or construction.
17. Provides interpretations of building codes, State laws, County ordinances and departmental policies.
18. Determines structural adequacy of standing buildings.
19. Provides guidance to technical or junior staff on code compliance matters.
20. Acts as a liaison between the construction industry and other governmental offices.
21. May supervise technical staff when serving as a project engineer.
22. Provides responsive, high quality service to County employees, representatives of outside agencies and members of the public by providing accurate, complete and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.
23. May be required to perform the functions of the lower level classes in this series.
