Job Description :

• The Survey Engineer reports to the Project Manager
• Responsible for various aspects of field engineering and surveying for the project. 
• Responsible charge for all construction layout and survey documentation
• Works directly with the Project Manager regarding initial project layout requirements, means and methods of establishing project survey control, and field reporting.
• Works with other project Engineers to coordinate and engage in surveying for job site activities, including survey computations and field layout for major phases of construction, prior to the start of any significant activity.
• Oversees survey equipment (calibration & maintenance requirements and security) and discusses with the PM recommendations concerning any purchasing and repair decisions and technology upgrades.
• Works with Engineers in the following tasks:
• Engages in site layout, construction planning, scheduling, quality control, and job site safety.
• Provides and maintains horizontal and vertical survey control by use of a level, GPS, total station, etc.,
• including organized documentation of survey notes.
• Assists in the preparation of final records for the project, including as-builts.
• Works with foreman to ensure structures are built in conformance with the contract requirements.
• Assists with coordinating and monitoring the work of subcontractors.
• Assists in carrying out a variety of basic field duties at the job site related to general construction

• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Must be organized and be capable of multi-tasking.
• Must have the ability to perform and be proficient in geometrical and mathematical calculations.
• Must have knowledge and ability necessary to perform layout and surveying.
• Must have knowledge of basic computer systems and software.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Must be able to safely traverse the site, travel by boat, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, climb, and work at various heights.
• Must have leadership abilities and work within a management team to ensure project success.
• Must be flexible to work early or late hours if required by project schedule.
• Must represent McLean Contracting in a business-like and professional manner
