Job description

The role will involve working as part of the Asia Pacific Project Engineering (PE) team.

In this role you will be required to undertake:

  • Power system studies
  • Establish and maintain business for power system planning in India
  • Provide general electrical engineering expertise for renewable energy


The individual responsibility will include the following:

  • Power system studies on Renewable energy (onshore and offshore wind, solar) grid integration.
  • Load flow studies, system loss calculations, short circuit analysis, transient & dynamic stability analysis, voltage stability analysis, performing short circuit, arc flash, and voltage drop analysis
  • Experience with power system simulation packages such as PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD/EMTDC and MATLAB/SIMULINK.
  • Functional knowledge of Balance of Plant (BoP) ,Including Transformer, switchgear, cables/overhead , Lines, reactors, STATCOM technical specifications, Earthing design calculation as per IS/IEEE.
  • Liaise with industry suppliers, manage bidding processes and provide critical bid assessment
  • Strategize to establish and maintain the business of power system planning in India.
  • Coordinate with offices in Europe and APAC for the delivery of services
  • Work on multiple projects, managing own time to meet deadlines
  • Manage the complete project lifecycle
  • Produce tender proposals (including technical and financial aspects),
  • Manage the project work to ensure delivery of the scope on time and budget
  • Close out the work, ensuring the client is satisfied with the work and has been appropriately invoiced.
  • Produce written reports and other documentation for delivery to the client
  • Provide technical advice directly to clients
  • Support the continuous improvement of the methodology and documentation
  • Participate in R&D projects as and when required.
  • Any other appropriate duties as directed by line management

Internal & External contacts:

  • The individual will be in regular contact (phone/email/meetings) with the Client (Lenders and Owners) and Client’s project team as well as construction contractors, stakeholders and other third parties.
  • The individual will be in regular contact with his/her Line Manager and the PE Service Head of Section for reporting, decision making and issue escalation.
  • The individual will work closely with other engineers in their local offices, and will have contact with the wider electrical community.



Position Qualifications 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/Master Degree in Electrical Engineering from reputed institutes like IIT or NIT
  • More than 5 years of significant practical relevant experience; for very bright candidate, the quantum of experience could be relaxed.
  • Ability to write and compose clear and accurate reports in English.
  • Good organisational and effective time management skills as you will be required to handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in a pressurised consultancy environment – operating to tight timescales.
  • Willingness to work on site.
  • Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Adaptability, and able to cope with a wide variety of tasks.
  • Good IT skills, and experience using MS Office suite packages and AutoCAD or Microstation


Desirable: 

  • Ideally experience in the design and analysis of wind turbine electrical system
  • Capable of working as part an integrated global team
  • Vision to develop and expand business in India and Asia Pacific region as a whole
  • Ideally experience working within the renewables industry
  • Health and Safety training
