50 lakh jobs in roads sector in 3 years, says Nitin Gadkari

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Saturday that the roads sector will create around 50 lakh jobs in the next three years in the country. During the time, the ministry is hopeful it would complete the work of awarding road contracts worth Rs five lakh crore.

Citing a World Bank report, Gadkari said Rs one crore investment in roads creates jobs for about 800 people. The minister was confident that through his ministry he would provide jobs for 50 lakh people and contribute 2% to the GDP, The Economic Times reported.
