If you have applied for any job interview and got selected then the next step would be to discussion on your offer made. One should keep in mind the following very important points before accepting or signing the offer letter; remember this is the right time when you can talk openly with the authority and clear all you doubt.

Most of the time candidates first accept the offer and then start discussing with the peers or the other co-workers after joining the company and after getting so many answers they lost in the confusion about what is right or wrong for them? So to avoid this last moment hiccups if you ask these questions then there would be very less possibility for you confusion and frustration.


1.       Reconfirm your salary package and ask for the salary break-up explanation and other monetary and non-monetary benefits.

There are lot of components into the offer letter i.e. Basic, DA and other variable components ask for the explanation about the fixed and variable components to the HR person, if you are not clear

2.      What is the Job Profile and work location and other terms and conditions?

Discuss in detail about the job profile or job description offered by the company; also ask for the work location, job transfer policies, and your role in the company and future opportunities offered by the company also ask for job terms and conditions like bond and working terms and conditions etc.


3.      When Can I receive a copy of the offer and the benefits package?

Always ask for the time period for your Soft or hard copy of your offer letter, so that you can plan accordingly and it will be very easy for you to submit the resignation letter in your present organisation if you are working somewhere.


4.      If I have questions about the benefits package, who should I speak with?

Take the contact nos. and proper address of the concerned person for your joining formalities and other related queries, basically this information is also included into the job offer kit.


5.      When is the start date?

Ask for your date of joining and also for other arrangement if needed if you are relocating for joining a company.

6.      What are the core hours?

Ask for the exact core hours of the company and other benefits of extra working
Hours if applicable for a job role.

7.      Can you confirm that I will have the opportunity to telecommute or work on a Flex-time schedule?

Ask for any work from home opportunities provided by the company, if applicable for your job profile.

8.     Will the company help me with my moving expenses?

If you are relocating from one city to other, ask for the relocation expenses (in terms of amounts) and other logistics facility if provided by the company.

9.      Get the Employee Handbook and read it.

Asks for the company handbook or annual journal if published by the company to read, so that that you get a better idea about the company’s policies and procedures; handbooks are meant for the purpose of employee awareness about the company.

10.  Get answers to the questions “What constitutes a workday here?” and “How do you all communicate after hours and on the weekends?”

Sometimes it’s better to ask about the company work culture directly to the HR people, it may help you to take the perfect decision whether to accept the offer or not.
